image_too_genericDisapproval
Image too generic (placeholder or logo instead of product photo)
The submitted image doesn't clearly show the actual product — it's a logo, a placeholder like "No image available", or an image where the product isn't the main subject. Affected products stay disapproved until a real product image is submitted (a small number of categories are exempt).
Common causes
- ·Products created in the shop before photos were uploaded, exporting a placeholder
- ·A brand logo mapped as the product image
- ·Category images or lifestyle graphics used instead of the item itself
How to fix it
- 01Replace the placeholder with a photo that clearly shows the principal product
- 02Update the image_link in your product data — changing the URL along with the image speeds up reprocessing
- 03For batches, download the affected-products CSV from the 'Needs attention' tab, fix the URLs in your source data, and re-upload
- 04Allow 24–72 hours for the diagnostics page to update
