Incorrect product identifier (identifier_exists set to false)

You submitted identifier_exists as false, but Google's systems believe this product does have a GTIN — usually because identical products from other sellers carry one. The product won't show in Shopping ads or free listings until the identifier data is corrected.

Common causes

  • ·identifier_exists set to false as a blanket default in the feed tool
  • ·Reselling branded products without entering their barcodes
  • ·A shop-system plugin exporting identifier_exists=false whenever the barcode field is empty

How to fix it

  1. 01Look up the real GTIN on the product packaging or via the manufacturer (GS1's GEPIR tool can verify ownership)
  2. 02Either set identifier_exists to true and provide the valid GTIN, or remove the identifier_exists attribute entirely
  3. 03Only keep identifier_exists=false for products that genuinely have no manufacturer-assigned identifier (e.g. handmade or vintage goods)
  4. 04Re-upload corrected data; allow 24–72 hours
